Leon Lister is an interdisciplinary artist working in filmmaking, programming, and object-making. Their practice is centered on analog film and light, exploring themes of intimacy and grief. Leon was the Director of Photography for Ruby Kline’s When the Camera Wasn’t Running (16mm), which received a Jury Special Mention in the Experimental Short section of the New Orleans Film Festival (2024), and Asreen Zangana’s Oh Dear Lord What is Wrong With Your Face? (s8mm), featured in the Kinoskop and NoBudge Film Festivals. They also co-wrote, produced, and assistant directed the NYSCA-supported short film Backseat of The Couch, exhibited in November 2024, and worked as Assistant Director and Analog Film Cinematographer (s8mm) on Kiernan Francis’s Trial Period (2023), distributed by The Criterion Channel. Leon holds a BFA in Film from Pratt Institute.
